31 Days of Happiness

Some of you who were following my blog last year may remember that I participated in The Nesting Place’s 31 Day Challenge. For those of you who are unfamiliar with this, you can click here and learn all about it from The Nester herself. Basically, it is a commitment to blog every day in October about one specific topic.

Last year my topic was Trying Something New for 31 Days. While I managed to blog for 31 days in a row, I did stretch the topic a little bit here and there. The challenge was a lot harder than I expected. At the end, I told myself I would not be participating in 2012. Well, here I am again, a glutton for punishment and stress.

I really struggled with choosing a topic for this year. At first the plan was 31 Days of Bravery. Looking at my October schedule, however, I realized that just wasn’t going to happen. (I am hanging on to that idea for something in the future.) Then I considered the topic of 31 Days to a Better Me. I felt that was a little self-centered and really didn’t want to blog for a month about improving myself. Oy vey!

So, after tossing around more ideas, I decided on Happiness. 31 Day of Happiness. In a way, it actually incorporates both of my original ideas, but hopefully it won’t leave me feeling stressed. This may seem like a weird topic for me. Based on my posts, it probably seems as if I’m reasonably happy. I am. Without going into the weird and awkward details, I just don’t feel as happy as I think I should. So, my plan is to focus on Happiness.

I’ve done some brainstorming, but I honestly don’t have any firm posts ready. The pressure is on! Now don’t worry, I’m not going to get all self-help on you. Things will remain the same around here, just with a happiness twist. I’m thinking about some new recipes, some fun projects, new designs, and a little decorating. I’ll still be working on my room. I’m also hoping (and really wanting) to make a video or two. And, depending on how things pan out, I may have some other exciting announcements. It should be a really fun and HAPPY month. I’m not sure what to expect myself, but I hope you’ll come along anyway. If you have suggestions for post topics, feel free to throw them in the comments.

Also, if you are participating in this challenge as well, I’d love to know your topic and who to follow along with. Feel free to let me know or link to your announcements in the comments. If this is all new to you, there is still time to participate as the official beginning is on Monday. Again, If you need more information, you can visit The Nesting Place.

Have a great weekend, everyone!!

Oh, and thanks for all the love and sweet comments about my room! I thrilled you love it as much as I do.

This should be interesting! This is the first I’ve heard about this, so I’ll have to think on if I want to commit or not…it is funny though, because I’m in a “commitment” now, and it is for only a week and I struggling! but maybe I saw your post for a reason…If I do enter, I think my topic will be “Commitment” Going now to check out the Nester, Thanks for the inspiration, I think!

A book that might interest you is “The Happiness Project.” I am currently reading it and I am really enjoying it. You basically quote the author when you say that you are happy but not as happy as you could be. You might enjoy it… and it might provide a source of inspiration for post ideas 🙂

I think this is the perfect topic for you Michael. I know I always leave your posts with a smile on my face.
St. Francis de Sales said, “Happiness is like jam. You can’t spread it without getting some on yourself.”
Really looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
