Ingredients
Before we can shake up this celebratory cocktail, we need a few ingredients. Here’s what to gather up:
- Whipped Vodka: This adds a creamy, subtly sweet flavor that complements the cake-like taste of the cocktail. I use Pinnacle’s Whipped Vodka. If you can’t find this, vanilla works great too!
- Amaretto: A sweet, almond-flavored liqueur that gives the martini a rich and nutty depth.
- White Chocolate Liqueur: Infuses the drink with smooth, luxurious white chocolate notes, enhancing its dessert-like quality. My current favorite is from the brand Mozart.
- Half and Half: Balances the stronger flavors with its creamy texture, making the martini silky and indulgent.
- Honey: Used for the rim, it acts as a sticky base that helps the sprinkles adhere, adding sweetness with every sip.
- Sprinkles: These are essential for the festive, colorful rim that makes the Birthday Cake Martini visually delightful.
How to Make
- Begin with two shallow dishes or plates. To one, add a teaspoon of honey. To the other, add the sprinkles.
- First, rim the edge of the martini glass in the honey, and then dip it in the sprinkles. Set aside.
- In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, combine the vodka, amaretto, white chocolate liqueur, and half and half. Shake vigorously.
- Strain into your prepared martini glass.
After just one sip, there’s no doubt a celebration is happening. This Birthday Cake Martini may just become your new go-to cocktail for any celebration!
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I use if I don’t have whipped vodka?
Regular vodka can be used as a substitute, or for an extra flavor kick, try using vanilla or cake-flavored vodka. These alternatives will still capture the dessert essence of the cocktail.
How do I get the sprinkles to stick to the glass rim?
First, rim the edge of the glass with honey to make it sticky. Immediately after, dip it into the sprinkles. The honey acts as the perfect glue, and ensures the sprinkles adhere well and stay put.
Can I prepare this drink in advance?
While this martini is best served fresh, you can mix the liquid ingredients in a pitcher and refrigerate. When ready to serve, shake with ice, rim your glasses with honey and sprinkles, and pour.
What are some good occasions for a Birthday Cake Martini?
This martini is perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, special achievements, or any festive gathering. It’s also a fun twist for holiday parties or as a special treat at casual get-togethers.

I used frosting on the rim instead of honey and found that doing only half the glass rim better than the whole glass. Delicious.
