Wow. It’s been a while since I did one of my “What’s the Tea” posts, so I thought I’d pop in on this snowy humpday and share some random, some important, and some totally-fun-but-not-so-important things. Cool?

First, and most important to note, Lowe’s is doing a Spring Makeover series! Remember last fall when I selected someone to get a room makeover for fall? Well, it’s happening again with a different (but equally fantastic) set of bloggers.

What's the Tea |

As before, the deadline is SUPER tight. Entries need to be in by tomorrow February 11! You can enter here. I’m also going to direct you to Yellow Brick Home (one of the participating bloggers) if you need more details about the process. Good luck!

And, if you have no idea what I’m talking about, check out the makeover I completed last fall by clicking here.

Okay, what else?

This past Christmas I bought a small REAL pine tree to help decorate my entryway. Months later that little tree is still thriving. Since I didn’t want to throw it away, and it’s a bit too chilly for my beach loving toes to go outside and plant it, I decided to keep it around a bit longer.

To make it span the seasons, I did swap out the red metal baskets for wicker ones I picked up for a steal at HomeGoods. I think the entry is rockin’ the new look. Sebastian agrees.

Now let’s talk about Valentine’s Day. If you’re a single person like me, this might not be your favorite day of the year. However, I’d like to challenge you to make this Valentine’s Day amazing!

What's the Tea |

Don’t worry about being single or “alone.” Seriously. Take this time to tell and show anyone in your life how much you love them. That includes yourself! Book a day at the spa, go see that movie you’ve been wanting to see, indulge in cake and wine, or snuggle with your kitty and read your favorite book. Yeah, I know (trust) me, being single can sometimes feel like the worst, but life is about appreciating and enjoying where you are in this moment. Find the best way to celebrate your awesomeness!

What's the Tea |

Whether you’re single or partnered, here are some more ideas to make this the best Valentine’s Day ever! (And yes, this is total self-promotion since all of the projects and recipes linked up below are from IBC. If you want a broader selection, head on over to my Valentine’s Day Pinterest Board.)

And finally, although I don’t consider myself a religious person, I believe that there are greater forces out there and I’m doing my best to figure out how to connect / serve them to live a more fulfilling life.

However, that’s not really my point here. Most of my family deeply believes in the power of prayer. I too believe that sending messages to the universe / God can be healing. Right now, my family could particularly use your prayers and good thoughts. I don’t normally ask for things like this here, and I wouldn’t ask unless I thought it was necessary. I don’t need the prayers personally, but if you could remember my aunt, her children, and my dad, it would mean the world to me. This is just one of those situations where there is no happy ending. Right now they need lots of love and strength wrapped around them.

Thank you.

And because I don’t like to end a post on such a down note, let’s talk music. As you may or may not know, music is a must for me. During at least half of my day there is music playing. So what am I currently loving?

Adele. Obviously. I can’t stop.

Oddly enough, I’m also super in love with Selena Gomez’ new song “Hands to Myself.” It’s been my go-to workout tune for the past week.

The Lumineers are back! Yay!

Nathaniel Rateliff is quickly becoming a favorite. My brother introduced me to his current single “S.O.B.“, but the rest of the album (while a bit different from the single) is equally as wonderful.

I loved this post. It had some great advice. While I am not single (married 35 years) I have a son,who had to move away from home for his job and is single. My husband and I are going to visit for the weekend. I’m sure this is not quite the valentines he would prefer, however I’m sure it will be a fun weekend! I will be praying for your dad, aunt and her children.❤️?

I definitely am not a fan of Valentine’s Day because, I too, am single. I was preparing myself for a day of self-pity until I read your blog. Thanks to your advice, I’m going to do something to make the day special for me. I believe in the power of prayer, and have prayed for your family, and also, that you will someday cross paths with someone who will appreciate your talents. Peace! PS…I love Adele’s “Water Under the Bridge!”

    Hi Michael,

I believe that prayer is very powerful…it elevates love to a higher level and connects people…just by you asking, you are giving more to the situation. Good for you! You are in my prayers. Also, Valentines day is overrated. I feel like it should just be a day to celebrate all of the people that you love, not just if you are married, coupled, dating…whatever. I prefer to call it HAPPY HEARTS DAY! That way everyone wins! 🙂

Michael, Thank you for boldly asking for our prayers! I am happy to lift up your aunt & her family, and your dad to God in prayer. I always enjoy your posts. Happy Valentines Day & I’m sending sisterly (grandmotherly, perhaps?) love to you!

Lots of prayers and thoughts go out to you and your family! We all need that at one point in our life!

I loved your post! Yes it can be a hard thing to be a single person when we have a beautiful holiday like Valentine’s day. (I was married to a man for 27 years and he hated this holiday, said it was a forced holiday to make him go out a buys stuff) Bah humbug! (I am divorced now !!)
I love this Holiday and I will be celebrating it, because some where in our wonderful world there will again be someday a happy person for me to celebrate it with! XOXOXO Happy day to you! <3
