It’s embarrassing to admit, but I didn’t grill once last summer. It was even worse because I absolutely love anything grilled. So I’ve made a promise to myself to take advantage of warmer days this year by getting outside and grilling more often. As an additional incentive, I keep reminding myself that a huge benefit of grilling is not having to clean up the whole kitchen.

One reason I didn’t do any grilling last year was because I had major problems with my old grill. I just couldn’t get it to work correctly. It was a hand-me-down, and I think it had probably seen better days.

However, thanks to my friends at Weber, I now have their new Weber Q 1200 grill. This thing is the best! As many of you know, I don’t have a huge outdoor space, so this grill is perfect. It takes up minimal space. Plus, it’s portable. I love that it can be taken to an event, tailgating, camping, etc. But I haven’t gotten to the best part; it’s available in six fun colors. You can show your personality as you grill.

As tempted as I was by all of the happy colors, I ultimately chose to stick with black. With my house being more traditional in style (and since that’s where I’ll mostly use the grill), that color was the best fit for me.

This past weekend I decided to break it in with some grilled pineapple chicken kabobs. Food on a stick is so much fun, so I couldn’t have picked a more appropriate food to inaugurate my new grill.

After the chicken spent a few hours in a delicious marinade bath, everything was skewered and ready for the grill. The grill was so simple to use, and the kabobs were cooked in no time.

I also love that grilling can be a healthier way to eat. I could live on grilled chicken and veggies all summer. Those little dark charred bits are my favorite. Anyone agree?

  1. Made these yesterday & we’re still talking about them today. Turned out exactly like your photo & super delicious. Made double the marinade & saved half for dipping & white rice. Will definitely make again.

  2. Michael, these are my absolute favorite. We made them for dinner last night. It’s a pretty easy way to eat a healthy and delicious meal. I almost sent you a text message with a photo to prove it! lol

    I hope you’re doing well. :o)

  3. Our grill is in storage for a bit while we are in transition, but I had to try this so I made it as a stir fry. It was super tasty. Can’t wait to try it on the grill next year and get those yummy blackened bits!

  4. I think I can do this, I’m printing recipe off now, have family coming and this sounds like a yummy alternative to just burgers

  5. All I can say is that it’s not Father’s Day without Kabobs. I make a new kabob every year for my dad and this year, it’s totally going to be these. He’s on a bucket list trip right now in Greece and Turkey for a month but will be home right before Father’s Day and I’m in charge of food! And yes, those charred bits are tasty as anything. Thanks for sharing. Enjoy your new grill!!!

  6. I grilled my first pork loin yesterday (charcoal grill). It turned out great. Not sure why I was always afraid to try one. Tri-colored peppers (I buy the small peppers that come in a bag) & onions ~ I use a grill basket, and corn on the cob. I usually grill every Sunday ~ great leftovers for lunch. 🙂
