For over five years now, I’ve been using Google Reader as my place to read blogs. I follow over 200 blogs (that’s way too many), and it has made my life so simple. It’s become a part of my daily routine. For those of you who have no idea what Google Reader, it’s simply a website where you can subscribe to all of your favorite blogs and it delivers them to you in one place. Pretty amazing, right? Well, it was. As some of you may be aware Google Reader is retiring on July 1. Yikes.

So for those of you reading this post on Google Reader, I want to offer you some alternatives. And for folks who want an easier way to follow all of the blogs you love, I’d  also like to give you some options.

Personally, I am devoting my love and recommendation to Feedly. It easily imported all of the blogs I follow to its platform. The layout is really clean and simple. You can read full posts. Plus, there’s an app for my iPhone and iPad. Sold!

I’ve also heard fabulous things about BlogLovin’ so you may want to check it out if that’s your cup of tea. You can also check out Flipboard, which I believe is a Mac-specific app. I really know nothing about it; I’ve just heard it pop up a few times in conversations.

Last, but certainly not least, if you don’t follow a lot of blogs, or just want to know when I post, you can subscribe to IBC directly. You can enter your email address and you’ll receive an email each day with the latest IBC post. So fabulous! There are also links in the sidebar and below each post to subscribe by email if you wish to do so.

And you can stay in touch via social media. I usually share post information there as well. You can find IBC on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.

I’m curious, now that Google Reader is going away, what platform will you use to follow your favorite blogs? Let me know in the comments.

Hope you are all having a splendid weekend!

I have used Goggle Reader for years also and love it! But I have switched to Feedly. I am pretty happy with it. I like that it syncs with my computer and iPad. It has a lot of good features, but I just wish it had a search option. I used search a lot with Google Reader, but Feedly does not have one. Hopefully one will be added soon! But otherwise I really like it!

I never used the search feature before, so I don’t even miss it! Haha. Though, I’m sure with enough feedback, I would assume it’s something they could add.

I follow IBC by good old email. 🙂 Maybe someday I will jump on the BlogLovin band wagon {or maybe I’ll check out Feedly} but for now I feel like I don’t miss posts when I see them come through individually.

Like you, I follow a lot of blogs, so I was sad when I heard Google Reader was going away. However, I have been following you, and all of my other favorite blogs on Bloglovin’ for awhile now, and I’m really happy with it.

Bloglovin! I love the interface and the way you can organize blogs you follow into topic folders. Plus, they send me a daily feed email, where I can quickly scroll through new posts and go straight to the ones I want to read. Two thumbs up!

I’ll have to check out BlogLovin’ a little more. I did import everything from Google Reader to there, so it’s still an option. Thanks for the info!

I switched to BlogLovin! and am following you there. So far I really like it because of the simple and straight forward interface. I added the BlogLovin! to my site to make things easier for my followers as well.
Have a great day ~ Donya

I’m doing a side by side with Feedly and BlogLovin’, Newsblur was recommended to me, but I don’t find it as comfortable as either of these. both look good on my phone, so I can use dead time (for me, time away from a computer) to keep up with my favorite blogs. They seem to sync every time I open them, so that’s a plus. I’ll play with these for a month and see who wins out! Love your blog, too!

Thanks so much NeenAnn! I’ll be interested to see what one ‘wins’ at the end of the month. Please stop back and let me know!

      Thanks!

I switched to Feedly a few months ago and I’ve been loving it!! The only issue I’ve had with it so far is that it no longer can connect to your feed!! It started around June 25 and is still an issue even though I’ve updated the app. Bummer. 🙁
