It’s been a while. Last winter my poor sewing machine got so much use, but it hasn’t seen the light of day for some time. If you’ll remember, the design plan for my room includes a colorful quilt. (Yes, that’s a little sneak peek of the loveseat I ordered on Overstock. It’s scheduled to arrive tomorrow.)

Anyway, though I really enjoy quilting, I have somehow found a way to avoid it for months. I guess with summer always being a busy time, I had an easy excuse. Now that the temperatures are dropping, I’m looking forward to spending an entire day inside with the music or TV blasting, cutting fabric and piecing together a new quilt. If you need a refresher, these are the quilts I’ve created to date: Quilt #1Quilt #2Quilt #3, and Quilt #4. I should probably note that Quilt #2 is the only one that is finished. From what I understand this is a problem for many quilters who have multiple projects going on at once.

For Quilt #5, I’m pulling inspiration from this quilt via Film on the Fridge.

Beautiful, right? It was love at first sight! With my perfectly neutral walls, I think this color combination will really pop. It will also be perfect for lazy Sunday afternoons. Lately, my Sundays have been jam-packed with projects from my endless to-do list.

Part of my 31 Days to Happiness is finding a better balance between work and free time. Over the next few weeks I’m planning on forcing myself to relax and enjoy my Sundays. No work, no cleaning, no emailing. Think I can do it?

Anyway, back to my quilt. Last week I ordered 12 half-yards of fabric. I’m using fabrics from the Cotton Couture Collection from Michael Miller. I’m away from my house this afternoon, but I will give you my full list of colors in another post or an update to this one. I also don’t really have a pattern for this particular quilt, so I’m hoping I bought enough material. We shall see.

If you are not a fan of this color combination, you may want to check out this onethis onethis one, or this one.

Do you enjoy quilting? What other crafts or hobbies give you the most joy?

This is the 2nd post in my 31 Days of Happiness Series.

It’s going to be a lovely quilt. You have a great stack of solids and cooler weather. That’s enough to get you started. Having a specific use and room for the quilt will keep you going. I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

I always thought quilting in the summer was way too hot. This is the perfect season to start!

Love to quilt. Made my first one with a paper bag pattern when I was 15. It was a log cabin pattern, but done in bold colors-I h=guess I was ahead of my my time 🙂

About to embark on one for hubby and I-we’ve been married two whole years and I still don’t have an “US” quilt!

    I’m inspired by these:

You are just so darn cute, your personality jumps right out of the blog. Love, love, love the quilts you have made. I don’t know if I have it in me to make one myself, thank goodness there are the quilters in life and the people who are either gifted one or buy them. Just read the reviews of your inn, congrats to you, sweetie!
