Remember back in February when I said I was planning to redo a space in my house? Well, that’s still on my to-do list, but it’s been moved to the back burner. For now.

Due to some big changes for me and because of life in general, my proprieties have been switch around a bit and a different room as moved to the top of my list.

You may have seen this room in some background shots of other photos I’ve taken, but I’ve never really showed you this space. Why? Well, to be honest it is a mix of the previous owners style, my style, and some quick i-need-something-to-fill-this-space-on-a-zero-dollar-and-zero-time-budget. While it looks ok and functions just fine, it’s not the space of my dreams.

I assume we all have these spaces in our house. Spaces we don’t love but don’t have the time or money to transform them into the spaces of our dreams.

Well, my stars have finally and miraculously aligned and this room is now ready for a makeover. Which also means I’m ready to show you this space in its entirety. Lace curtains and all.

While this room is currently functioning as one of my guest rooms at my little inn, once the redesign is finished (or in about two months…whichever comes first) this space will function as a tv room/lounge/reading nook.

I know I really need to get a house tour of sorts on this blog, and I have that included in my blog redesign plan, but since there is a Gift Shoppe in what used to be my living room, I don’t have a space for relaxing. You know, a space to read a book, watch tv, or take a nap on the couch. I miss desperately miss this space.

I’m working on an inspiration board, but it’s not quite ready to share. Hopefully I can tie up some loose ends and I’ll have it ready next week. That’s the goal. Though, I will tell you that my inspiration for this space is from this photo. Yes, a photo of a wood DIY colored pencil holder is my inspiration.

I’m officially calling this room ‘A Sun-dappled Global Jewel Tone Inspired Retreat in the Woods.’ It’s a mouthful, but it’s going to be fabulous. Beautiful saturated colors, natural wood elements, a little bit of glam, all wrapped up in a light cozy blanket of softness. That’s the plan at least.

As you can see this room has some great bones, but is defiantly in need of some love. Thankfully, I have plenty of love and oodles of ideas.

Hopefully these before pictures give you a general idea of the space and what it looks like now. And, as I mentioned above, I promise a full house tour on the blog beginning in early parts of 2013 so that all of this makes a little more sense.

I’ll be back soon to share my inspiration board and to give you a better idea of how this space is going to transform. I’m hoping to begin paint prep next week. Let’s do it!

I found your blog (again, some how it’s gotten lost in everything) for your painted wood sunshine but you had to disable the comments (can’t spammers find something productive to do?!) so I thought I’d check out more. I love the sound of what this room will be and love the bones of what it is. I have the same entry door into one of my rooms but it’s upside down and I always wondered if it was wrong. Although I like it how you have it, especially with the number on it, I’m thinking of keeping mine upside down and painting both sections with chalkboard paint – the upper being for me and what not (it’s right off our kitchen) and the bottom for my 3 year old. Thanks for sharing! I’m definitely off to check out more of your place.
