I guess they call it ‘magic hour’, that hour in the morning when the sun is just rising and the hour in the evening when the sun is setting. It’s supposedly the perfect time to take pictures to get that beautiful glow. I never really captured it, or understood it, until last night.

I just finished watching this movie, Away We Go, which I can’t recommend it enough. Thanks to my dear blogger friend Jeruselam for pointing it out to me. I laughed. I cried. I really don’t have the words to explain how it made me feel, but it defiantly left me feeling happy and hopeful. I don’t know.

The movie reminded me of a million photographs all put together. It was beautiful. And the music. Oh, the music. Do yourself a favor …. go watch this movie.

Anyway, when the movie was over I looked outside and the sun was just beginning to set. I grabbed my camera and just started snapping.  84 pictures later, I settled on these six as my favorites.

I hope you all have a fabulous weekend. Enjoy it!

Holy cow, kid, you got yerself some talent there! 😉
Those photos are beautiful. And I agree, the first sunlit hour of the morning really is magical, like the last hour of light at night.
Diggin’ the tiny rainbow in the second picture, it really says it all.
Thanks for a gorgeous post, I think I won’t hate my alarm clock quite as much tomorrow.

Utterly gorgeous photos, Michael! Coneflowers are a must for next year’s garden. And funny enough, Jerusalem’s post inspired me to pick up Away We Go from the library today, too. Just finished watching it…I’m feeling the same way…can’t really put into words why I like it so much, except for perhaps that the way Burt and Verona love each other, in such a truly considerate, honest, and open way, that’s what we all hope for our in own lives.

    Take care,
    Erin

I have a trumpet bush that was already in place when I bought my house. It is now entwined in a gate and fence that is looking a little worn and tired and I would love to replace, but cannot bring myself to do now because I can’t imagine messing with this beautiful and lush trumpet bush. I spotted two hummingbirds feeding from it this week and that sealed the deal. The fence stays.

Thank you for all of your wonderful photos, recipes and snippets of your life. Your blog makes me smile.

I’m addicted to that light, if I could just walk around in it 24/7 that would be awesome.

    Love that first shot. 🙂

First – I have to gush – I adore your blog. Next – these photos are beautiful. The light is perfect. It is my favorite time of day. The Scottish call it “the gloaming”.
