In my quest of Operation 20lbs I have been running/walking an average of five miles per day. I’ve manage to do this everyday for the past 18 days. Which, for me, is pretty darn amazing. I’m also to the point where I’m actually running about 60-70% of the five miles.

When I’m running music really helps to provide me with the energy and encouragement I need to ‘keep on running’.

When my computer crashed I lost all of my music. Over the past couple weeks I’ve been rebuilding my collection. During this rebuild I pulled together 35 songs that really get my feet moving, so I thought I’d share them with you.

Inspired By Charm

You’ll notice two things about this list, first – my ‘running’ music selection would make you think I’m a teenage girl. Second, I’m obviously a really big fan of female singers.

I’m sure several of you will roll your eyes at this list, but it really works for me. There’s no way I’d be running five miles without these songs.

I linked every song to a youtube video and threw a couple of my favorite videos into the post.
Enjoy.

Taste in music is so subjective. There are some great “get up and move” suggestions on this list, but I have to admit I’ll stick to my own power playlist. Some of my favorite running tunes are Closer to Free by the BoDeans, Come Alive by Foo Fighters, Born This Way by Lady GaGa, Why I Am by Dave Matthews, Brighter Than The Sun by Colbie Caillat, Give Me The Meltdown by Rob Thomas, Something to Believe In by Parachute, What I Know by Parachute, and Drive by Incubus.

Great list..also take a listen to Bombs Over Baghdad, by Outkast. It’s older, but it’s got a great beat.

I’m an elliptical girl myself and tend to “kick it in gear” with my old school faves such as Earth Wind & Fire and Hall & Oates. I also like any good upbeat country, Katy Perry and Timbaland which astonishes my grown children. LOL.

Great choices! I’m going to add a few of these to my playlist too.

    Best wishes and happy running!

Love your list! I like a lot of those songs, too. When I’m running, “Stronger” by Kelly Clarkson is a big one. There’s also “Crazy, Beautiful Life,” by Ke$ha, “Tambourine” by Eve, “Before He Cheats” by Carrie Underwood..just to name a few. Yesterday I was running and “Gettin Jiggy With It” by Will Smith came on my mp3 player…that was a fun one! Congrats on the 18 days 🙂 I used to hate running, but now the more I do it, the more I love it 🙂

We have almost an identical running play list – I especially love the new Carly Rae Jepsen song!

“We Are Young” is my newest fave. I also love “Push” by Matchbox twenty, which I’ve liked since I first heard it in the mid 1990s.

Thanks for the list. Had a few and added a few. Pit Bull is my latest addiction – crank it up when the miles get hard and push on through!

Fun list! I also like to run to Wild at Heart by Gloriana.
