so, i’ve been admiring this print from one sydney road since they opened their shop several weeks ago.

i had some successes (and here) with my other homemade signs/art, so i thought i’d give this one a try.

i downloaded this font (and several others while i was there), and got started. and while it’s not an exact match, this is what i came up with.

part of me feels kind of bad for taking someone’s idea and thoughtful planning, but why spend $35 plus shipping for something i can create on my own. right?

Don’t feel guilty! I figure if someone makes and sells something that I can make myself (not that much actually as I am not so crafty), then there are people who will pay for the convenience and others who will just make it themselves. Good job on the print!

Ditto! My thinking is that if I can make it, I’m gonna. There are plenty of people out there who won’t or can’t, so let them spend the money. It’s funny, my mom is always, Oh Shan, you’re so creative. Um no Mom, I steal other people’s ideas. ha.

I am thinking of it as Resourcful. Plus you are being kind and sharing with the rest of us. I love it! I am thinking of printing one myself and spray painting a frame bright red to go with it.

I would never consider paying $35 plus shipping for something I could easily do on my own.

I’ll confess…I’m the biggest culprit of seeing something I like and then just making it myself. 😉 I mean, no one actually orders out of Pottery Barn do they? he he he.

I love this! And I love how something so simple makes such a huge impact!

I want to make one now! Did you just sand down the words? haha or did they come looking like that!?!?

Hey–that’s how I get all of the latest trends–by doing it myself (and I like your font choice better!) What is it? And thanks for stopping by my blog! You would like my other one: http://vintagepollyanna.blogspot.com/

I don’t think you have anything to feel guilty about. That’s the beauty of homemade. Many of us find inspiration around us and then make a verison that is all our own. A perfectly acceptable practice I’d say!

That’s brilliant! I agree it’s resourceful why spend the $35.

Great site! I’m a tad bit jealous that you own a B&B. I almost bought a house a few years ago to turn into a B&B.

I’ll come back here to visit again…and look around more!

    thanks for visiting and commenting!

soooo awesome! as long as you aren’t trying to make a profit, i figure it’s no different than copying something from pottery barn on the cheap!
