Well, it didn’t take long. Earlier this week I shared my new-to-me sideboard and now I’m already decorating it! The truth is I started shopping for office decor a while ago. My August post for the HomeGoods Design Happy blog offers tips for styling a home office (You can check that out here.), so I’ve been scouting the HomeGoods office section for several weeks.

Decorating a Home Office:

As with most of my apartment, my office is a work in progress, so it will most likely change from what I’m sharing today. However, it’s so nice to finally have a few lamps (There’s no overhead light in this room.) and accessories. Let me show you around.

Last month you saw the initial pieces in my office, which included my desk and chair. If you want details on those, check out that post here. With my new sideboard in place, I now needed some lamps, art, and storage and fortunately, that’s what I found.

The lamps, cactus art work, and white board are all from HomeGoods. I thought the lamps were fun and different. They add a lot of texture and pattern to this room. In truth, I picked them up because I also thought they might work well in my bedroom. But I came up with a different plan for that space, so here they are.

More Home Office Decor Ideas:

Purchasing the cactus print was an easy decision. HomeGoods sells a line of art prints called Middle of Nowhere. (It’s an Australian company, and in the U.S., the prints are sold exclusively at HomeGoods.) The art definitely suits my aesthetic so that line has become my go-to when I’m looking through the wall art selection at HomeGoods.

I also found a white board. I thought it would be useful for planning out my week or jotting down important dates and notes.

My desk has several new accessories as well.

I bought this paint-by-numbers tray at a nearby local shop called Wild Card. It sells cards, stationery, art prints, jewelry, candles, and other home items. I got the mug there, too. I especially liked the tray because it’s a nod to the vintage paint-by-number I hung in my kitchen.

The “#boss” sign and magazine rack are also HomeGoods scores. Some of those graphic signs can be a bit tacky, but this one is made from marble.

Finally, people were asking about the large plant that’s next to my vintage sideboard. Thanks to one of my wonderful readers, I was reminded of its name: Dracaena Marginata. Hopefully, that’s helpful to those of you who were curious about it. My understanding is that it’s fairly easy to care for. Here’s hoping!

  4. This office space decoration is quite a unique one. The witty use of mugs, boxes, and trays is new and helps things to be at the place. The furniture choice is nice since it seems to provide high levels of utility. The accessories used in here are cute and seem to quite motivational for a home made office. The best is the use of plants in the office space for it seems a good idea keeping office lively and less stressful.

  5. Ack–I am DYING over that cactus print and both paint-by-number pieces! I don’t have a HomeGoods nearby, but I’m pretty sure I took a cactus photo a few years ago that might print well. Thank you for the inspiration!
