Bedroom Makeover Decor Ideas

It’s hard to believe it’s been a month since I shared the plans for my guest bedroom makeover. Today, I’m excited to bring you the reveal of my Color Lovers Bedroom Makeover.

In case you have no idea what I’m talking about, last month I announced that I had teamed with nine other bloggers for a Color Lovers series. Inspired by color, each of us has transformed a room in our homes. Last month we shared our plans; today we’re back with the reveals. Once you’re finished peeking around my room, be sure to visit all of the other bloggers linked up at the end of this post.

Since the conversation about this makeover started back in February, I opted to focus on a bedroom in my St. Marys house…. I know I’ve been talking a lot about my Pittsburgh place lately, but today I’m taking you back to where all the IBC fun started.

If you’ll remember (check out the post here if you don’t), this room had been clad in pinks and corals. While the design and colors totally worked, it just wasn’t what I wanted any longer. As I shared in my planning post, the impetus for changing the room was my visit to the Ace Hotel in Pittsburgh.

When I started my planning, I found this gorgeous rug that fit wonderfully in my design. However, when I went to order it, I discovered it was on back order. Whomp. Whomp. Thus, my final design has changed from what I previously showed you. (Thankfully, it’s the same design, just in a different color.) So, instead of greens, golds, and oranges, I now have blues and greens (and a tiny hint of orange.) Go with the flow, my friends.

But honestly, it doesn’t matter to me because the room came together beautifully. What do you think?

Overall, I achieved the look I was after while still keeping it very Inspired by Charm.

Originally, I toyed with the idea of painting the window frames and fireplace charcoal black to mimic my inspiration photos. However, because my future with this home is TBD, I thought that having one room with black trim might not be such a good idea.

Instead, I decided to use my designer muscles and change the color palette through accessories.

Mission accomplished. (Btw, Sources for products linked towards the end of the post.)

This goes to show how a few changes (and a new color scheme) can totally alter the look and feel of a room.

And can we talk about that light fixture? You know I’m light fixture crazy. I love how it plays so nicely with the shape of the mirror.

I was also super excited to get a side chair in this space. It was desperately needed. It also gave me an excuse to keep my gold pouf. It’s still one of my favorite things.

I also used artwork that wasn’t in my original plan. However, these new pieces are even better than what I’d previously found. NYC will always have a special place in my heart, and the abstract piece pulls in all the colors so beautifully.

ROOM SOURCES:

Let’s talk sources since I’m sure you’re curious.

The overhead light, gray and gold planters, and white chair are from The Mine. The green bench and round mirror are from Birch Lane.

The artwork is from Minted. You can find the abstract freckle piece here, the Brooklyn Bridge photo here, and the Soho photo here.

Other sources: The pillows and bedding are a mix of new things from Target and items that I had (mostly from HomeGoods). The daybed is from West Elm. The rug is from Rejuvenation. The wall sconces and window treatments came from Urban Outfitters several years ago.

A big shout out to The Mine, Birch Lane, and Minted for sponsoring the Color Lovers series. They here kind enough to provide each of us with a few pieces to help in styling our makeovers.
