It’s Halloween on Inspired by Charm. Today I’m showing you around my eerie but elegant dining room while also sharing some Haunted Halloween Table Decor Ideas. Let the ghoulishness begin.

It’s a thrill for me to join the other bloggers on The White Buffalo Styling Co.’s Halloween Home Tour. The tour kicked off yesterday. You can click here if you’d like to start at the beginning. If you’re coming over from withHeart, welcome! I’m frightfully excited to have you. Jennifer did such a beautiful job decorating her home for the season. I especially love that mantel garland.

While I love to decorate my home for autumn (as you’ve seen in my two fall home tours here and here), I don’t usually go all out for Halloween. However, I do think it’s a fun excuse to dabble in the macabre and mysterious side of decorating. So when Lindsay invited me to join this tour, I knew it was a great opportunity to conjure up a few ideas for my dining room.

Creative, Spooky, and Chic Halloween Decorations:

As I do when planning most designs, I first thought about color. I decided on black and white with a mix of metallics.

With my color scheme in mind, I searched around my home for things I already had in order to not spend a ton of money to switch up this space. Let’s see if you can spot some familiar accessories.

I did buy a few things at Walmart. The table runner is sheer white fabric from the Halloween section. To make the fabric look a bit more creepy, I used scissors to create holes and tears.

For my plates, I stuck with basic white. With lots of spooky accessories planned, I thought white would be a ghostly neutral background. I had the gray napkins on hand and just topped them with gold flatware*.

I finished off each place setting with a metal spider designed to hold a mini pumpkin. (I used to sell the spider holders in my gift shop. I’m glad I hung on to a few.)

I also found these bling bat stickers* that I applied to my wine glasses. For a couple dollars, they were a frightfully good deal. At the end of the evening, they peeled right off.

Halloween Decorations: Flowers

Since every table needs flowers, I ordered this bouquet from The Bouqs. I tried to find something bootiful. These protea and spiky greens were perfect.

The glass candlesticks were also left over from my gift shop. Adorned with black tapers, they instantly made my table look spooky. There’s something about tall candlesticks with black candles that screams Halloween.

To finish off my creepy tablescape, I tucked in ceramic and brass pumpkins and scattered around small plastic snakes and spiders. The white ceramic pumpkins are from Grandin Road and the brass pumpkins* are from West Elm.

Last, but not least, was my oozy chocolate skull cake.

Yep, my friends, that skull is a cake. You can learn how I made it here.

I found a skull cake pan at HomeGoods last week (You can also get one here on Amazon*.) and knew I had to add this cake to my Halloween table.

Coated in a white glaze and dripping with chocolate ganache, the skull cake is the perfect centerpiece.

I bet you never thought “dead” could also be delicious. Get the recipe here.

To tie the entire space together, I added a few ghoulish touches to the rest of the room.

I turned my dining room shelves into a mini bar with my DIY “I’m here for the boos” ice bucket as the centerpiece. (You can learn how I made that here.) Those black pumpkins* are from West Elm.

I also whipped up gold spider drink stirrers. To create them, I simply painted plastic spiders gold which I then hot glued to plastic stir sticks. It was a super simple project that adds great detail. (Remember when I made similar stirrers for the Kentucky Derby?)

To switch up my artwork, I just printed out this dancing skeleton graphic I found after a quick google search.

Over on my actual bar cart, I swapped out the booze for candy.

I got this beautiful and delicious chocolate from See’s Candies. I’m ready for any trick or treaters who stop by. (I also encouraged my guests to take a handful of chocolates with them to remember the evening.)

To complete the eerie look of my dining room, I added more tattered fabric to the head chairs at my table and hung a glitter skeleton from the door that leads to my side porch.

All-in-all, I’d say that my table is welcoming to any ghosts or goblins who might wander this way. What do you think?
