Grab a seat and get comfy. It’s time for What’s the Tea with IBC.
In my last What’s the Tea, I asked you for advice about my upcoming visit to San Diego, CA. Thanks so much for the ideas you shared here and on social media. Your suggestions were much appreciated.
The trip went very well. Surprisingly, though, I wasn’t the biggest fan of San Diego. I’m not sure if it was because of the chilly weather during my visit or my stressed out condition. I stayed in La Jolla at the La Valencia Hotel which is beautiful and near the ocean.
That part of town is scenic, but it seemed a bit chaotic and touristy. I also quickly found out that the area is becoming known for a pretty nasty stench caused by all of the seals “doing their business” on the rocks. Yeah, dining along the beach wasn’t so pleasant.
However, I do have a couple recommendations to pass along should you ever find yourself in San Diego / La Jolla. For breakfast, go to Brockton Villa Restaurant and get the Coast Toast. It’s their famous french toast that’s similar to a soufflé. After breakfast, hit up Hi Sweetheart. It was my favorite shop of the whole trip. I believe you can visit it online, too. For dinner, go Italian and try Piatti. Delicious food and wonderful service.
A few days after returning home from San Diego, I headed to Louisville, Kentucky for my first Kentucky Derby. Boy, was that a totally different experience. Incredible! I had a blast! This was my first visit to that part of country, and it may have stolen my heart. I can hardly wait to plan another visit. Nashville is next on my list. Anywho, I’ll be sharing more about my experience at the Derby tomorrow or Friday. Stay tuned.
Speaking of the Derby, part of the fun of attending this annual event is planning your outfit. I’m always game for dressing up and throwing on a bowtie and hat. Another element that helps me feel more dressy is a watch. (I typically don’t wear one on a daily basis.) And when I’m wearing one, I always reach for my Daniel Wellington.
It’s the only brand of watch I have. I bought one a few years back. The face is thin and simple, and the classic design is beyond perfect. I was recently talking with the folks at Daniel Wellington, and they were kind enough to offer me a discount code for IBC readers. Yay! We love discounts!
To save 15% on your order, enter code: CHARM at checkout. Also, if you’re buying a watch, there’s FREE shipping worldwide. The code expires 6/30/16.
Talk about a perfect Father’s Day gift, right?! And yes, don’t worry, they also sell women’s watches. Happy shopping!
Have you seen the trailer for “This is Us”? It’s a new series on NBC coming this fall. I haven’t been this excited about a TV show in a long time.
Also, who’s anxiously awaiting Sunday? Queen Adele is back!
