Painting Progress | Inspired by Charm #31daysofhome

Welcome back to my soon-to-be-office! I’ve made some progress with painting, so I thought I’d show you were I’m at.

31DaysNo23MAIN

First things first, the ceiling is finished. I think that is cause for a celebration! Ceiling painting is the worst. I also started repainting all of the gray walls. Can you tell that I change the color a bit? Originally, I planned to keep the same gray that was in the shop, but something was just off when I added the other colors to the space. It made that gray seem dingy. (I’ll show you in a second.)

Luckily, when I was waffling on this decision, Emily Henderson posted a room makeover on her blog. As soon as I saw the walls, I knew that was the color I needed. (You have to check out her design by the way; it’s amazing.) So, it was goodbye Heron Plume and hello Aloof Gray!

Well, I got this little area in the entryway painted – and the walls at the front of the office. Doesn’t it look fab? I’m immensely pleased with the results. It’s a cooler gray so it immediately brightened the space up. It also plays much nicer with the other colors in the room.

You’ll also notice a new countertop for my workstation. I ordered a butcher block countertop to give me more workspace and an even surface. The counter needs to be trimmed and stained and have brackets attached, but it’s been so handy having this extra space. I’ll share more on that when I get it completed. This is going to be my craft and entertaining superstation!

Okay, let’s check out the color. Ready?

Tada! I’m loving it! The wall to the left is Lighter Mint and the area above the fireplace is Larchmere. They just may be the happiest and most serene colors I’ve ever seen.

Please ignore the mess everywhere. Clearly nothing has a home. However, I did manage to throw together a mantle-scape for you. Oh snap!

You may remember that at the beginning of this project, I was slightly on the fence about these colors. That has changed. Now I am loving them. Plus they will work so nicely with the colors of the furnishings and accessories I’d like to bring into this space.

Light, bright, and happy

But don’t let these pictures fool you. The painting is not complete. As you can see, the back area of the room still needs attention. I should be able to wrap it up in an afternoon, but I’ll be traveling over this next week so it will have to wait.

I’m just dying to know. – What do you think of the new colors?
